Description

The HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Range Finder is a highly popular sensor used for measuring distance and detecting objects in various applications. This module features two eye-like projects at the front, which function as the ultrasonic transmitter and receiver. It operates using sonar, similar to how bats or dolphins navigate, to measure the distance to an object. The module combines a transmitter, receiver, and control circuit in one compact, easy-to-use package, offering excellent range accuracy and stable readings. Unlike some other rangefinders, the HC-SR04 is not affected by sunlight or black materials, though soft acoustic materials like cloth may be challenging to detect.

The Trigger and Echo pins are the I/O pins of the module, which can be connected to the microcontroller or Arduino. When the receiver detects the return wave, the Echo pin goes high for a period corresponding to the time taken for the wave to return, allowing accurate distance measurement. The HC-SR04 offers non-contact distance sensing from 2cm to 400cm, with a range accuracy of up to 3mm.
