This is a smart irrigation controller that you can sync to your smartphone or tablet via WiFi. You can easily monitor status of the application remotely. As long as you have a WiFi connection you can alter your watering schedules. There are other technologies such as Infrared, RF, Bluetooth, Zigbee communication but WI-FI has certain advantages over these technologies.
Considering the advantages of Wi-Fi , an advanced automation system was developed to control the appliances in the house. It is a wireless technology that uses radio frequency to transmit data through the air. Wi-Fi has initial speeds of 1 mbps to 2 mbps. Wi-Fi transmits data in the frequency band of 2.4 GHz. It implements the concept of frequency division multiplexing technology. Range of Wi-Fi technology is 50-300 feet. The processing device for the automation in the project is a Microcontroller. The data sent from PC or handheld Android Device over Wi-Fi will be received by Wi-Fi module connected to Microcontroller. Microcontroller reads the data and performs the switching action of electrical devices connected to it through Relays or Triac switches.
Using your WiFi network, the controller accesses the internet directly through your router. Simply enter your wireless password into the unit and it will connect. The unit can then access a live stream from weather stations close to you, meaning it will work with the most up-to-date information and will be able to modify the irrigation schedule based on that information. When you download the app for your Smartphone or other wireless device, you can then control the unit remotely.
Advantages of Wi-Fi Communication :
1. Wi-Fi is user-friendly interfacing.
2. Low power consumption.
3. Controls high and low voltage devices.
4. Long life.
