Solar Based Coin Operated Mobile Charger

The coin-based mobile battery charging system is developed in this project. This provides essential service to the rural public where grid power is not available for partial/full daytime and it is also a good source of revenue for site providers. The coin-based mobile battery charger can be quickly and easily installed outside any business premises. The source for charging is obtained from directly from solar energy in case of non availability of grid power.
In this , we are using coin detector circuit based on IR proximity sensor. In real time , commercial coin detector mechanism can be used which accepts only valid coins. We are here making a prototype to demonstrate coin box using IR Proximity sensor. When coin is inserted, it gives logic signal to microcontroller. The microcontroller used here is from AVR family Atmega328 (Arduino UNO). It activates relay to provide power supply for the load. It also displays count down time on 16×2 LCD. When count down time gets finished , it automatically cuts off supply of the electrical load. In our project, electrical load is mobile charger. We are using 7805 regulator IC to get constant +5V voltage for the peripherals.
We are using 12V 5W solar panel to charge 12V 1.3Ah rechargeable battery. Regulated Power supply is given to all the units. In real time , in order to get more time backup, we can use higher power solar panel and higher ampere hour rechargeable battery.
