The major advantage of GSM over other wireless technologies is it’s global range. The technology of e-metering (Electronic Metering) has gone through rapid technological advancements and there is increased demand for a reliable and efficient Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) system. The proposed system replaces traditional meter reading methods and enables remote access of existing energy meter by the energy provider. The electricity authority people can monitor the meter readings regularly without the need of visiting every premises. A GSM based wireless communication module is integrated with electronic energy meter of each entity to have remote access over the usage of electricity.
The GSM Modem receives SMS , passes it to arduino uno based atmega328 microcontroller which processes command and performs required operation. We can get the billing details and also control switching operation of electrical loads. The 16*2 LCD Display is used to show the status of the circuit. The electrical loads are interfaced through relays. The energy meter is interfaced with relay and electrical loads are connected to energy meter.
