DESIGN OF BORDER ALERT SYSTEM FOR FISHERMEN USING GPS

The advent of new high-speed technologies and the growing IC technology provided realistic opportunity for new cost effective technologies and realization of new methods of innovations. This technical improvement together with the need for high performance techniques created faster, more accurate and more intelligent products using new drives and advanced control algorithms.

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a radio based navigation system that gives three dimensional coverage of the Earth, 24 hours a day in any weather conditions throughout the world. The technology seems to be beneficiary to the GPS user community in terms of obtaining accurate data for navigation, for geographical  positioning. The GPS technology has tremendous amount of applications in Geographical Information System (GIS) data collection, surveying, and mapping.

This project application is  implemented using  components such as GPS module to get the location parameters and microcontroller ATMEGA328 to process the data. We will get the latitude and longitude parameters directly on 16×2 LCD when GPS gets signal from satellite.  The GPS Modem will continuously give the signal which determines the latitude and longitude and indicates the position of the fishermen to them. The current design is an embedded application, which will continuously monitor a moving Boat and once the boat goes beyond the level of the defined limits the particular operation to alert fishermen is performed. The microcontroller compares existing data parameters and performs required operations.
