Wi-Fi Based Smart Wireless Sensor Network for an Agricultural Environment

In this project, we are using sensors to measure temperature, Humidity for agriculture environment monitoring using Wi-Fi technology. There are other technologies such as Infrared, RF, Bluetooth, Zigbee communication but WI-FI has certain advantages over these technologies.

Considering the advantages of Wi-Fi an advanced automation system was developed to control the appliances in the house. It is a wireless technology that uses radio frequency to transmit data through the air. Wi-Fi has initial speeds of 1mbps to 2mbps.Wi-Fi transmits data in the frequency band of 2.4 GHz. It implements the concept of frequency division multiplexing technology. Range of Wi-Fi technology is 40-300 feet.  The controlling device for the automation in the project is a Microcontroller.  The sensor parameters data is sent to PC or handheld Android Device over Wi-Fi using Microcontroller. The electrical loads such as Fan, Lights are controlled automatically through current driver and relays based on the sensor condition.

Advantages of Wi-Fi Communication :

1. Wi-Fi  is user-friendly interfacing.

2. Low power consumption.

3. Long life.

4. Reduced installation costs.

5. Easy implementation,installation, and coverage.

6. System scalability and easy extension
